Bulky Item Pick-up
Residents can have five (5) bulky items (other than appliances and mattresses) picked up at the curb for $26.82, additional items (over the five) can be picked up at an additional cost of $3.56 per item. Paine's will pick up a mattress curbside, but charges an additional $30 per mattress fee to dispose of. To schedule curbside collection please call Paine's Recycling and Rubbish Removal at (860) 844-3000. Residents should call Paines by noon on Tuesday for a Wednesday pick-up.
Residents will be able to pay with a credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or by sending a check to Paine's. Pick-up will not occur until payment is received at Paine's. Items should not be placed at the curb until the night before or by 7 a.m. the morning of the scheduled pick up. No refunds will be issued once the pick up is scheduled or if the items are removed by someone other than Paine's.
Appliances can be picked up, for a fee, by going to the Transfer Station Monday or Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. or Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and purchasing an appliance sticker. The town picks up appliances Monday morning.
The following items are allowed for bulk pick-up:
- Furniture - couches, chairs, etc.
- Bathroom vanities
- Toilets
- Rugs
- Carpets (in 4 foot rolls - 3 rolls equal one item)
- Mattresses ($30 per mattress)
- Tables/chairs
- Large children's toys
The following items are not allowed:
- Wooden fencing
- Metal
- Construction debris
- Items in garbage bags
- Appliances
