In response to the pending blizzard conditions expected today, residents of the Town of Wethersfield are encouraged to shelter in place and stay off the roads to allow public works the chance to clear and keep safe the roadways. There is a parking ban in Wethersfield beginning at 4 p.m. Monday January 26, 2015.

Residents are encouraged to inspect and keep direct vent exhausts from natural gas or propane furnaces or clothes dryers clear from drifting snow. Please keep fire hydrants clear of snow for fire department access. Please be considerate when plowing or snow blowing snow to not impact streets or your neighbors.

The town Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will open at 4 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2015. The phone number for the EOC is (860) 563-6658, for non-emergency communications. For Police, Fire and EMS emergencies, you should notify 911.

A Connecticut Light and Power liaison will be available to coordinate response to downed wires or widespread power outages. Residents should call CL&P at (800) 267-2000 to report power outages. Should the town experience widespread power outages, we will post up dates/notices on the Wethersfield EOC Facebook page, television stations WFSB Channel 3, WTNH Channel 8, WVIT Channel 30, our local Wethersfield Government access channel 14, WVIT Channel 61 and radio stations WTIC, WCCC, WDRC, WPOP, WKSS, WRCH, WRYM .

The emergency shelter staff is on standby and the shelter at the Pitkin Community Center, 30 Greenfield Street will open should the town experience widespread power outages. Once the shelter opens, residents are reminded to bring their identification, medicine and bedding with them.

All Town Hall, Library and Parks and Recreation programs scheduled for Monday and Tuesday are cancelled. Town Hall and the Library will be closed Tuesday January 27, 2015.
